ASD Family Immersion Camp

Description

Participants of the ASD Family Immersion Camp will learn:

  • To recognize the unique pattern of parenting that unfolds when raising a child with social learning delays.
  • How to promote social-emotional development within the family system.
  • Effective strategies for leveraging the most powerful relationships in a child's development − the parents!

Participants will experience:

  • A positive therapeutic and retreat experience for families.
  • An educational opportunity to better understand and support their child with ASD.
  • Training on ways to help create a family balance while living with ASD.
  • Individualized professional consultations during natural events (e.g., meal times, playtime, transitions, etc.).
  • How moving at their own pace can help ensure higher quality experiences.
  • Opportunities to build relationships with family members, with professionals, and with other families who offer support.

Participants will:

  • Gain ideas to address specific concerns for your child.
  • Receive feedback on leveraging your family relationships to promote your child's development and achieve a higher quality of life for each family member.

Accommodations

Cabins are one room but have electric heat and lights, table and chairs, chest of drawers and bunk style beds. All cabins are adjacent to communal restroom/shower buildings. Laundry facilities are on site.
If you prefer your own RV and want to make Meadowood part of a road trip, we have spots with power and water available.

Schedule

  • Four Day Family Immersion Camp Session: August 2nd - 5th
  • Six Day Family Immersion Camp Session: August 7th - 12th

Costs

  • Four Day Family Immersion Camp Session: $750 (Four Person Family plus One Caregiver), $45 (Each additional family member attending)
  • Six Day Family Immersion Camp Session: $1300 (Four Person Family plus One Caregiver), $75 (Each additional family member attending)
  • Transferable/Refundable Deposit: $35 (If family is accepted, this deposit will be applied towards the application's enrollment fees. If the family does not get accepted, the full deposit will be refunded to the applicant. Please Note: Your application will not be processed without the $35 deposit. You can pay the $35 deposit with a check included with the application or by using the secure PayPal checkout option below.)

Financial Support

Limited financial support is available through Meadowood Springs Speech and Hearing Camp. To be considered for financial support please include a statement as to why you feel you are in need of sponsorship with your application. Funding may also be obtained through the direct support of a local Elks Lodge (B.P.O.E.), civic organization, or other sources such as Altrusa club, Lions, Rotary, doctor's, dentists, church organizations, etc. Parents or guardians can also raise funds through the websites Wish Upon A Hero or Fundraise.com.

Installment plans are also available for tuition payments with no finance or interest charges.

Clinical Eligibility

At this time, there are no specific criteria in order to be considered eligible for the ASD Family Immersion Camp. However, due to limited space, the first ten families (per session) to complete the application AND enrollment process before the deadline will be admitted to the camp.
